Lifeguarding Job Oportunities

REQUIREMENTS

Basic Requirements

  • Students must be 18-28 years of age.
  • Students must be enrolled in a fulltime program at a college or university, stipulated for 2-4 years pursuing a Bachelor's Degree, Diploma/Associate Degree.
  • As a J-1 student, you are required to register as a full-time student (a minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate students, 9 credits for graduate students)
  • GPA must not be below 2.0
  • An official transcript must be provided and stamped by the institution.
  • M.T. Agency Signed contract
  • Status Letter from school
  • Passport size photos (2)
  • Copy of School ID

  • Registration and visa fees payable to NCB Acc.# 404403575
  • Program fees must be paid in USD to NCB Acc.# 404403583

America Red Cross Pre-Requisites

  •  Swim 150 yards continuously using front crawl, breaststroke, or a combination of both (backstroke and sidestroke may be used only to rest).
  • Tread water for 2 minutes using legs only (no arms).
  • Swim an additional 50 yards.
  • Complete a timed event:
    • Swim 20 yards.
    • Surface dive to a depth of 7–10 feet.
    • Retrieve a 10-pound object.
    • Return to the surface.
    • Swim back 20 yards while holding the object with both hands and keeping the face above water.
    • Exit the pool without using a ladder.
    • Complete the entire sequence within 1 minute, 40 seconds.

Lifeguard's Requirements

  • Students who wish to become a lifeguard must be able to swim and pass the America Red Cross Standard of Lifeguarding. 

Pre-Requisites (Shallow Water)

 

  • Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. 
  • Swimming on the back or side is not permitted.
  • Swim goggles are allowed.
  • Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only the legs, floating, or both. 
  • Participants must only tread water, not float, when the water depth of training is greater than 5 feet.
  • Swim 50 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both.

Shallow Water Lifeguarding

 

  • Starting in the water, swim 20 yards. 
  • The face may be in or out of the water.
  • Swim goggles are not allowed.
  • Submerge to a depth of 4 to 7 feet (consistent with the maximum water depth that will appear on the certification) to retrieve a 10-pound object.
  • Return to the surface and walk or swim 20 yards to return to the starting point, holding the object at the surface with both hands.
  • Exit the water without using a ladder or steps.
